It was a war effort started by Jackie Cochran, a dream that came to reality during World War II as a secret weapon. WASP, the Women Airforce Service Pilots, began in the town of Sweetwater where the National WASP WWII Museum now stands to commemorate their service and dedication to fighting and flying for their country. Visit the inspiration for so many female aviators today. Well worth a stop on The Texas Bucket List!
