There is no better season or time to check off items on your bucket list than during the Texas summer! That’s why this week on The Texas Bucket List Summer Special, we’ll showcase four stupendous stops for your Lone Star State summer travels.
First, Shane takes a stop to see the sights at a state park in Comstock, TX. Seminole Canyon stretches for miles across beautiful Texas terrain, and upon its cavernous walls lie some of the earliest signs of life in our lands that are as old as Egypt’s pyramids.
Next, he swings by La Lomita Park in McAllen, TX, a unique dance hall that specializes in classic Conjunto music. This surprising small-town site serenades the sounds of South every single Sunday since its opening.
The third stop on the Summer Special features traveling beneath the bustle of busy H-Town, to the Houston Cistern, which once supplied the city’s water. The sunken site was forgotten for decades in the dark, but after being rediscovered, it serves as an architectural relic for visitors to tour and explore.
Finally, Shane catches a carriage to Fanthorp Inn in Anderson, TX, a State Historic Site overflowing with Texas history. Not only did it host visitors such as Sam Houston, Zachary Taylor, and Ulysses S. Grant, but it also has resided in four different countries, yet has never moved.
